This extraordinary early piece also came from an old Montague ranch, and while we don't think that they originally went together- it does look very nice on the chest of drawers from the previous lot. We believe that the valet is made of maple. Two carved & lidded round shaped compartments with a rectangular divided compartment and hinged lid between them-forms the base of the valet. The acorn finials turned at the tops of the two round lids-forms the handles for those lids. Altogether a very graceful and well made piece. It is possible that the dark handpainted accents on the border as well as the turnings and finials were added later -but at any rate it does tie the two pieces together well. Valet measures 23.5" x 8.5" x 24.75" tall. Don't miss out on these pieces!
