No its not a coffin, but this unfinished 40" x 16" x 11 1/2" solid wood box could certainly be made into a Halloween decoration as a coffin, or a toy box, tool box or what ever strikes your creative fancy. The lid measures 37" x 14" and is a little shy of fitting correctly but could be made to fit easily. The inside edge of the box is grooved out as though it were made for a slide in lid and the outside edges of the box are smoothly rounded. It's defiantly constructed solidly
